Jan Dungan, Au.D, CCC-A and Jill Barron , Au.D


Jan Dungan, Au.D, CCC-A

Jan came to Tennessee from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, to attend Maryville College, where she graduated with a degree in Political Science.

After graduating, she worked in Germany for two years for the American National Red Cross.

She returned to Tennessee where she completed a M.A. in Audiology at the University of Tennessee in 1981. She served as director of Speech and Hearing Services and Director of Children’s Special Services for the East Tennessee Regional Public Health Department. She joined the clinical faculty at the University of Tennessee Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology in 1991 and served as a Clinical Supervisor in Pediatric Audiology until she was promoted to Audiology Clinic Director.

Dr. Dungan organized Appalachian Audiology in 2008. Certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association, Dr. Dungan is a Fellow with the American Academy of Audiology.

Dr. Dungan is married to Attorney Charles Dungan. They have a blended family with four daughters: Susan Eby, Carrie Mills, Stephanie Ebuna and Elizabeth Crosby. These four women have graced the family with four multi-talented and hilarious grandchildren and extraordinary sons-in-law of various talents, each essential to the greater good of the world and the family.

Doctor BarronJill Barron, Au.D


Dr. Jill Barron brings more than 11 years of clinical audiology experience providing comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation services to infants, children and adults with diverse hearing healthcare needs. She served as the Director of Audiology Services in Tupelo, MS providing patient care and offering aural habilitation services to preschool children with cochlear implants.

Following a move to Kentucky, Dr. Barron spent several years as part of a medical practice specializing in digital hearing aids and assistive listening devices. In 2008, she coordinated internationally with hearing aid manufacturers to ensure that children in Mexico received proper medical care and hearing aid amplification. Dr. Barron and her family moved to Knoxville in 2009.

Speech Language Pathologist, Deanne Lucas

Deanne Reiss Lucas is a Speech and Language Pathologist specializing in the treatment of pediatric communication disorders for children ages birth through eighteen. She received an Honors Bachelors Degree in Speech & Hearing Science and a Masters Degree in Speech & Language Pathology from the University of Iowa. Mrs. Lucas resides in Knoxville with her husband, Dr. Jay Lucas, and two children. She has more than 20 years of Speech and Language Pathology experience.

Office Manager, Bobbi Branton


Bobbi joined Appalachian Audiology in 2010. As the Office Manager, Bobbi is always busy: scheduling and confirming appointments, filling hearing aid orders, locating parts, processing payments and resolving billing issues with insurance companies and our billing office. Bobbi's main focus is meeting the needs of each patient with compassion and professionalism. Bobbi is originally from California but has lived all over the United States during her husband's 24-year Naval career. Now that 'they' have retired, both are proud to call East Tennessee home, along with their two children.
